A MODERN TAKE ON HISTORY

This 1873 house had not been well cared for over the years. The 1980s townhomes attached to the north wall of the home left felt like an oppressive neighbor, and the only space to add a garage left no room for outdoor enjoyment. So we created a beautiful outdoor terrace on top of the garage, and since this space is elevated from the sometimes busy street offers the perfect escape. Inside, the modern materials offset the exposed brick walls for stunning contrast and a warm environment that welcomes all who enter.

Location: Golden, Colorado

Sustainability: Reusing an existing structure, exterior continuous insulation at previously uninsulated brick walls, evaporative cooler, light well, low-VOC finishes.
