Tranformed to Net Zero

  • Of paramount importance was creating a light-filled interior that captures the mountain views to the west and the open space of South Table Mountain to the east.  The flow from interior to exterior was important both in the kitchen (to the exterior cooking area of the Quincho, a common feature in the owner’s home country) and from the living space, which drove many of the design decisions.  The main entry location was debated through many iterations before settling on the ground-level entrance. The lower level became an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) with a separate entrance.  The sum of all these parts results in a home with no compromises, that feels more like a new build rather than a rebuild.  We count that as a success.
